FLUXHIBITION #3: Thinking Inside of the Box ~ at the Gallery, E. H. Hereford University Center, University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, Texas.
The Fluxus Art Show
opened July 01, 2009 in the International Fluxibition #3: Thinking Inside of the Box at the Gallery, http://www.nationalcollage.com/2011_exhibit/2011.htmlThe FluxMuseum is dedicated to documenting the contemporary global Fluxus art scene and assembling a significant collection of works by contemporary Fluxus artists.
The call for this show got a big boost when Yoko Ono - who has taken an interest since the second Fluxhibition in 2008 - help spread the word this time through her website ImaginePeace.com and through her tweets. The New York
Times also picked up the story. In fact a number of works in the show are inspired by
or dedicated to this seminal Fluxus artist.
The inspiration for Possibilities came from watching a short film on the artist, Gaudi and his love for the organic. He knew he would never see the completion of his dream, but his struggle to work and create inspires others to work on. Feelings of being boxed in and compartmentalized can often stifle the creative spirit. Artists will drill away in their own, or society's cubicles. Just as a seedling finds its way to the light, budding from seed, growing around and through obstacles, the spirit of possibilities will reach for new heights and directions given the chance and the dream.
The International Museum of Collage, Assemblage and Construction is dedicated
to the collection, study and exhibition of collage, assemblage and all forms of
constructive art. See online at fluxmuseum.org and collagemuseum.com
